• Job Description: Dental Nurse

  • As a member of the practice team the Dental Nurse receives the patient into the surgery and prepares them to receive dental treatment. At the direction of the dentist materials will be mixed and suction of the mouth provided. Staff members receive 28 days paid holiday calculated pro-rata for part time, with extra sessions for long service. Nurses are covered under the Practice Indemnity arrangements. Staff are paid by electronic transfer at the end of the month and are offered enrolment in the NEST Pension scheme.
  • The nurse will;

  • Be within the surgery for chaperone purposes
  • Assist the dentist as directed
  • Record via computer treatment carried out
  • Be responsible for the aseptic state of the surgery
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times
  • Smoking

  • Being committed to patient well being this practice has a firm No Smoking policy within the premises.
  • Arrangements for supervision & Training

  • The nurse works under direct supervision, training is often provided "on the job", including via the monthly staff meeting. As a GDC registrant it is required that you keep your CPD hours up. However the practice also arranges for staff to attend courses at the local hospital or alternative venues. Attendence at such training is encouraged,staff are normally paid for their time to attend such and the practice pays the course fee.
  • Vacccinations

  • The post holder is expected to be vaccinated in accordance with current Department of Health guidelines.
  • Indemnity

  • The Practice BDA Indemnity policy covers against negligence claims, compliant with GDC regulation.
